Ideal Family Profile

  Any family or individual is encouraged to submit a letter of interest. Ideally, Lucas Valley Community Church is seeking . . .

• A committed, involved Christian family, who would enjoy having a sweet, hard working, curious, joyful boy in their lives.
• A dad who wants a son and will have time to spend with him.  Vanya needs this connection as well as connections with other adult males who are available to provide positive role models for him.


• Parents with a good sense of humor, who enjoy interacting with children. Vanya loves to laugh!

• Parents who regularly provide affection, affirmation and abundant praise
• Parents who are willing to give consistent, firm, loving discipline and clear boundaries
• A family with an active lifestyle (sports, park, work around house, farm or yard.) 


• Parents who have access to strong, formal public education and who will make a commitment to advocate for Vanya’s educational growth (speech therapy, remedial classes, activities/schooling that will challenge his intellectual capacity.)   A rigorous home-schooling program could also work with the right support and approach. 


• A family with compassion for Vanya’s special needs and a willingness to be an advocate for him.  This will require time to research what programs and funding are available for him due to his disabilities.

• A family with access to Shriner’s Hospitals for continued plastic surgery on his ear/jaw and eye.  There are approximately 2-3 eye and 4-5 ear/jaw surgeries remaining.  Orthodontia (pro-bono) care is also needed and available in the Sacramento or San Rafael area.  Some help with transportation could be arranged.
