ABOUT LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL BANDS  

The Liberty High School Bands exist to provide quality music education to every Liberty High School student every day.  We are able to offer a diverse program consisting of performance based educational ensembles.

The "Lion's Pride" Marching Band
  This course is offered in the fall. Students learn music through performance and add an additional visual component to help interpret the musical ideas. The band supports our Varsity football program performing at the games, and during half time. This group is also a competitive marching band. They participated in rated and ranked band festivals and competitions throughout the fall. The band hosts one home festival beginning in 2012.

The Liberty High School Jazz Orchestra

  Offered yearlong this course helps students learn about music through performance in jazz. Students perform a variety of styles of music in a traditional “Big Band” setting as well as small “combos” This group is a competitive jazz ensemble performing in multiple competitions and festivals throughout the year.

The Liberty High School Symphonic Band
  This course teaches music through performance in a formal concert band setting. The symphonic band is a competitive band ensemble performing and festivals and competitions in the spring.

Liberty High School Winter Guard
   Winter Guard is an extracurricular competitive color guard unit that performs independent of a live band. They create a visual interpretation of a piece of music and perform in the local winter guard circuit.

Liberty High School Brass Choir
 This is a student run ensemble performing around the community.

Liberty High School Woodwind Choir

 This is a student run ensemble performing around the community.

The "Red and Black" Pep Band
  This extracurricular group supports our girls and boys basketball programs. They are a non-competitive athletic band.

The "Liberty Spotlight Productions" Pit Band
  This extracurricular group supports our drama club by providing high quality music for the school musical productions.

About the Director:

    Daniel Jensen has been Director of Bands at Liberty High School since 2009. In that time the band program has nearly doubled in size and become a stand out program in the West Valley winning several awards and honors. Mr. Jensen received a BA in Music Education from the University of Arizona. He has taught music in every grade level from Kindergarten to High School. He has taught general music, choir, orchestra, band, and guitar. Mr. Jensen is an accomplished trumpeter performing as his schedule permits in the Phoenix area. He has taught privately off and on during his career. Mr. Jensen is a husband and father with three girls all under the age of five.
